The morning sun flooded the penthouse breakfast room with golden light. Clara watched with guarded emotion as Julian sat on the rug, carefully assembling a miniature Lego skyscraper with Lily, his tailored suit jacket long discarded on the sofa.

“Look, Daddy!” Lily giggled, placing a tiny plastic spire at the summit. “It touches the clouds, just like Mommy’s blueprints!”

Julian’s eyes were luminous as he looked up at Clara. “I fired the board of directors this morning, Clara. And my mother has been permanently removed from the family trust.”

Clara took a sip of her coffee, leaning against the kitchen island. “You think that fixes five years of silence, Julian?”
